Abandoned House

I'm not sure why, but for some reason I am attracted to abandoned houses. Some people like old cemeteries. Others like new skyscrapers. Some like antique cars. But, for whatever reason, I like abandoned houses.

Here's one I drove by today.

Though all the windows were broken out, I was surprised it had a pretty good roof. I liked the blue shingles.

I imagined children playing under, around and on this big tree.

There was even this old piece of play equipment in the yard. I remember these on school playgrounds. I don't ever recall seeing one of these in someone's yard.

Even though the windows were gone, there was still some charm in the windows - or lack of them.

Once upon a time this was a big yard. I could almost hear children playing and running and laughing.

Of course, these two windows were part of a bedroom. Once this was a really nice farm house.

I enjoyed the few minutes I spent here. I left with questions but no answers. Life is that way sometimes.

Thanks for stopping by. Bailey and I appreciate it.

Oh, I'm fascinated with old houses (and old barns) also. And this one is really a lovely old home. If walls could talk...this old house would probably have some stories to tell. Love your pics!

I also love old abandoned houses. Although I feel a bit sad about them. The stories they could tell and then the biggest question is "Why?"

that is a lovely farmhouse. MB

Me, too! It's all that wonderful historic energy drawing us inside.

I always wonder what happened, too, when I see abandoned homes. Especially big homes with remnants of yards.

What a shame that such a nice piece of property has become so decripit. But loved your photos.

Russell,

My first visit here! Enjoyed the posting on this old house. Meg bought a house worst then this nearly 30 years ago, cows lived in it. Her ex still lives in it, the addition they did is decent, but the old house never got restored.

That's a beautiful old house. I can hear the ghosts of the people who used to live there. I love old abandoned houses too, and there used to be one near where I lived as a little girl, and it even had a gazebo. What stories these old houses can tell.

It's sort of a shame that these old abandoned houses couldn't be refurbished for homeless people to live in them. I would think a house like that still has good bones and good structure, and could be made livable again. It's wonderful...!

You sound just like me. Every time I see a old abandoned home, I try to imagine what it would have been like when it was new. Or the family that lived there. Old homes have such charm and character. It's a shame to see them fall apart.

Hmm it appears like your website ate my first comment (it was super long)
so I guess I'll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog.

I too am an aspiring blog writer but I'm still new to everything. Do you have any helpful hints for rookie blog writers? I'd really appreciate it.
