Windy Day

Today I was mowing my lawn. At this time of year that is something I have to do a lot.

Bailey was just, uh .... helping me. I guess you could say he was sort of supervising.

I had noticed on TV this morning there were wind warnings for our area. I had not thought much about it until I looked up and saw this.

The wind was starting to pick up stronger and stronger from the south. I could see swirls of dirt lifting into the air. A wall of dirt was coming towards Bailey and me.

Above us the trees were beginning to bend and leaves were getting pulled off the trees.

The dirt was filling the air. It reminded me of being in a blizzard.

Looking to the north I could not see past the road. I had never seen anything like this before.

I yelled at Bailey to come into the house. I didn't know if he could hear me.

This is what I saw as I stepped into the house.

Wind is a powerful force. Nothing to mess around with. Bailey and I are lucky as our damage, so far, has been limited to losing shingles, tree limbs, etc.

This is only a taste of what people have to deal with when they are hit by a tornado. It makes you very, very humble.

Take care.

It was noted that it was at least 55 mph gusts but it seemed a whole lot stronger. I keep getting my old silver maples trimmed for free. Our dog gets scared when it gets too windy. He will stay inside all day rather than go out there in it. Good photos of dust storm.

i remember years ago in my hometown, typhoon no 3... and i can really feel it and suddenly i cannot stop myself from crying and my mother asked me why? i replied, if we on a big concrete home can feel it, do u realize what's happening to those living near the river and sea shore on a light material houses? we ended up praying the whole night until the strong winds stop.

the next day, i drove my motorbike and saw the heartbreaking result of that typhoon.

this surely bring me back to those times. thanks for posting...

That looks so scary! By all means, stay indoors until it all passes!

we have fog in the morning that looks like this in Provincetown, but so far it's not as windy as Yarmouthport.

Yikes! Here in the Pacific Northwest we get heavy rain and winds but not dust. This is amazing! I'm glad you and Bailey had limited damage. I'm now following your blog and looking forward to future posts.

That's quite the wind... and quite the photo-journal. I wish you nothing but fine weather from here on in.. and more fine photos to share with the rest of us.
