It's been several years since I had a Christmas tree. So this year I decided to correct that situation. The first question was should I get a real tree or a fake tree?
Silver aluminum trees look very elegant in a close up picture.
But they don't look quite as elegant from a distance.
Though the color wheel is somewhat irresistible.
Fake trees can look very real.
Especially if you cover them up with lights and oranments and presents.
Once the real versus fake tree dilema is resolved, then the even bigger question comes in: colored or white lights?
And if that is not enough, do you go with the traditional Christmas tree lights or the new LED ones?
Hmmm..... makes me long for the days when every Christmas tree I drew looked like this.
For some reason the red balls were imperative as was the yellow star on top. That was back in the days when there were no decisions to be made. Everything was so .... exact.
Thanks for stopping by. I will really try to get around to some blogs one of these weeks (!!).

This is funny because I just came from a blog where we were discussing real vs. artificial trees.
For years, my parents used a silver tree very similar to the one in the photo here. And as children, we loved to watch it change colors with the color wheel.
But for the past several years, we haven't had a tree at all. My husband 'built' one last year using our fireplace and branches he'd cut and although it sounds very strange, it looked pretty cool.
Here's a photo of it:

Have a great day, Russell.
I've not had a tree since 2005, when I had a fake one. It was ok, but I decided I didn't want a fake any more. It's too much trouble no to walk in the house and smell that scent of a real tree. The condo association have banned real trees, and believe me there people who keep an eye on that kind of stuff!
I have a small ceramic tree, and will bring it out next week.
Hi russell, thanks for the visit.
I was thinking about not having a tree this year but I think your posting has changed my mind. I will have a small fat fir I think.
I will have to check out Country Girls fireplace tree. Sounds dangerous. LOL
So when or if you get a tree you must show it to the blogging world. OK?? MB
Last year we bought a really small, really cheap artificial tree. By the time I loaded all my ornaments on it nobody knew the difference! So I guess I'll put it up again this year. We leave right after Christmas to go to Arizona this year, and it will probably still be up when we return after Valentines Day!
I have the second tree. I put it in my window and it revolves. From outside it looks nice and pretty simple because nothing else needs to be put on it.
It's great just the way it is.
Yes, let us all know what you decide. (How come my Christmas tree drawings never looked that good?)
Every year I decide I'm not going to have a tree and every year I change my mind at the last moment and head to a local Christmas tree farm where I'm allowed to cut the crookedest tree on the lot. I use just the top as my tiny tree and the rest of the boughs for a wreath and a few table-top decorations. I haul out my colored lights and heirloom decorations and 40 year old tinsel and suddenly I'm wrapped in Christmas Past and happy.
