Wet Fall

I have heard about the Grinch who stole Christmas. But who stole fall? Here in Iowa it has rained, rained and rained some more. The weather has been cold and wet and cloudy. We went from a cool summer to some season that is cold and wet -- but definitely not autumn. (Note: All the photos that appear below came from Google Images -- they are not mine! Wish they were, but...!!)

October is my favorite month. It is supposed to be a month of warm, lazy, sunny days where I can take in Mother Nature's spectacular paint show.

Where I can walk across parks and yards that are covered with leaves.

Where I can find some quiet place down by a river or lake and walk along a path for a few miles and never see another person -- only see beautiful leaves.

Or find that big open state park with wide open spaces and picnic tables and grills that are no longer being used -- and I can have them all to myself!!

Or maybe stop and get a few pumpkins -- or better yet, see a large pumpkin patch where an old farmer says "give me $2 and pick out any one you want."

Maybe fall will arrive yet. There is still some time. But for now perhaps it is best to enjoy the leaves in their color as they lay on the ground.

As with life, it cannot be sunny and warm and lazy all the time. Sometimes we need the rain in our lives. But we always can hope for the sunshine to return.

Thanks for stopping by.

Been the same here, although the sun is out this morning.

Rainy weather can be very discouraging to a photo buff this time of the year. BUT, your photos are still wonderful... just not what you had in mind. We are finally getting blue skies here in Virginia and it feels GREAT!

Thanks, Snappy Di - but these are not my photos! Heh! Wish they were but they came off Google Images!

Believe me, here in Iowa it has been beyond impossible to get any photos this fall! But I will try IF the sun ever appears again!

I had to stop by and "see" the rain, after you told me about it at BoiseDailyPhoto.com. Yes, we're all in a football fever tizzy around here!

Are you sure Iowa hasn't morphed into Vancouver? Halloween is always dark, wet, drizzly, damp and spooky here.

The rains have set in here now as well, and of course I have lost my umbrella and one of my gloves. *sigh*

Looks pretty much the same over here . We're getting a bit of a warmer spell right now but only one day of sunshine.. back to rain today. However, your posts always bring some sunshine to my day. :)

The weather forecast for the week shows a high only in the 40's. And the summer here was cool also, as has been the autumn so far. Could use a little of that global warming!

I don't like Fall to begin with because it's the doorway to Winter but this Fall I hate. It has been dreary.

Uh-oh. I think Ohio has been stealing Iowa's sunshine.

We needed the rain so much because we had an unusually hot and dry summer. I just wish it would not rain ALL at once.

Your fall pics are just beautiful---en if they are all wet. LOL MB

I have to agree with your sentiments about Autumn as it is one of my favorite seasons.

Our transition is ever so subtle, and you have to keep a keen eye to even notice it.

Lovely post.
