Thanksgiving Thoughts

This week we celebrate Thanksgiving here in the states. I realize in Canada this holiday is celebrated in October and that probably makes more sense. In any event, Thanksgiving here has become the recognized start of the Christmas season. But that's another story.

But as declared by President Lincoln back in 1863 -- and during our Civil War -- the last Thursday of November was decreed to be a day for which Americans were allowed to give thanks for their many blessings.

Apparently the first Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621 when the Pilgrims sat down with the Wampanoag Indians to share a meal and to give thanks for having survived a year at Jamestown. (My dog, Bailey, thinks the dog in this famous picture is one of his ancestors!)

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is not commercialized as there are no presents or cards. It is a quiet holiday. It is a time for families and friends to gather together and share a meal.

This year Bailey will be doing the cooking. He promised me he would do much better than last year (we are still cleaning up that mess! Heh!!!)

So on behalf of Bailey and me .....

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

...please where can I buy a unicorn?

Have you tried Unicorns R Us?

If not there, how 'bout Recycled Unicorns - but you may have to put your name on a waiting list there.

Of course, you can go to everythingandmoreunicorns.com, but they do charge a bit more and the shipping and handling is really expensive.

Why don't you do this? Send Santa Claus a letter and perhaps he will bring one to you. That's my best suggestion.

Take care and thanks for stopping by!

Aww have a great Thanksgiving. I hope that if Bailey is cooking, that at least you'll be cleaning up.

I can't imagine why someone would want to buy a unicorn.. it seems like such an expense when you can just rent one. ;)

I heard there is a huge shortage of unicorns this year. Unless one had their order in early, I'm afraid they won't get one. ;)

I wish you a blessed Thanksgiving. If Bailey doesn't do his job you can always come up and join us. I have 22 coming so wouldn't notice one more!

I agree, Thanksgiving in my favorite holiday too.
We should all give thanks more than we do.
We don't even wait for Thanksgiving any more for the start of the Christmas season. Now it seems to start in Oct with Halloween!

Aw.... I hope you and Monsieur Bailey do have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Tell him I have a great recipe for stuffing.

That wasn't him asking where to buy the Unicorn, was it? Ever since he's learned how to type, there's no stopping him.
