Bubble Lights and Tinsel

Seems like everyone is rushing around to get Christmas trees up and houses decorated. I think that is great. But to be honest with you, I won't put my tree up until around December 15.

After all, the Twelve Days of Christmas are really from December 25 to January 6. But regardless, it is still fun to see all the Christmas decorations going up. I did put lights on an outdoor tree today, so....

Thinking about Christmas trees, do you remember these?

How 'bout tinsel on the tree?

Whenever you watch the classic (old time?!) movies, you always see a tree like this.

I always like Christmas cards that have something like this on the front.

Here's to bubble lights and tinsel! Now, hey! Put the tinsel on the tree carefully!! Don't throw it on!! Heh!

I think I hear David Seville yelling "Alvin!!" and The Chipmunks singing Christmas Don't be Late!

I love tinsel. Gosh, can you still even buy it?

When I was a little girl, I used to iron the tinsel, because I didn't like it being all wrinkly. OCD anyone?

To me, a tree just isn't finished without tinsel on it, and a wonderful angel on the top.

I don't remember Bubble Lights, but I do recall tinsel. We don't use it anymore but that's because we don't want to have any vet bills from cats ingesting too much tinsel (and string and ribbon).

We had those huge lights on our tree that actually got hot and probably belonged outside.

As a child, I loved decorating the Christmas tree. We didn't use bubble lights, but we did use tinsel and lots of pretty ornaments. Sometimes I buy small living trees now and after Christmas I plant them outside. But that's all because of my cats. They would climb the tree and eat the tinsel. :-)

I still put tinsel on my Christmas tree and don't think trees look finished until its on. And yes I put it on one strand or maybe two at a time. :-)

I love tinsel too but it seems I'm not the only one with the feline concerns. I had a cat who would try to eat tinsel. Knowing what it does to their digestive tracts, I'm not willing to sacrifice their health. So I'll just have to enjoy looking at it on others'. :)

I do remember the Bubble Lights. In fact I have some, still in the box, I inhereted from my Grandmother. My Aunt was the tinsel queen. Her tree always awash with at least a ton of tinsel put on one at a time. I had and sill don't have the patience.
