Christmas Tree

The blizzard has passed. People are beginning to dig out. The wind has finally stopped.

I walked out to the outdoor Christmas tree late this afternoon. I had to admit it looked pretty special. It reminded me of the rainbow after the big flood.

This tree is over 20 feet tall. It is the height of a two-story house. The snow around it looks like a big white tree skirt. You can see the tracks of small animals in the snow.

For some reason I have always liked blue bulbs.

Can you hear Elvis singing "Blue Christmas?"

See the lights of town in the background. The town is about 2 miles away. Yes, Iowa is flat. But the prairie has its own beauty.

Walking back to the house I took this photograph without the flash. I like the way it looks.

But I liked getting inside even more. It will get extremely cold tonight. A blizzard has three distinct parts: (1)first it snows, (2) then it blows and (3) finally there is bitter cold.

Thanks for stopping by and thank you for all your nice comments yesterday.

PS For those people who were wondering, Cody Pony has been safely in his warm stall in the barn for the past 3 days. I never let him out in this kind of weather.

We are all dug out up here in Minnesota, too. And you are right. Tonight comes the cold.... brrrr! Way below zero is what the weather guy said at 6:00.

I love the beautiful Christmas tree. You did the lights and God provided the other decorating. Very pretty!

Stay inside if possible until this cold spell passes. I know I'm going to!

Stay indoors... light the fire... drink hot cocoa. No need to go anywhere. The tree photo is REALLY nice!!

Here I am, in my Zhivago hat waiting for any snowflake, and all we got was rain!

Your tree is spectacular. It's extra festive with the backdrop of snow.

All we got was rain here, too. I am always astounded at the amount of snow you have since I began reading blogs a couple of years ago.

Russell, have you heard from Jeannelle (Midlife by Farmlight) lately? Her last post was over a month ago and I was wondering. I just hope she's doing allright.

Iam surprised the lights are still on the tree after all the wind. You must have really tied them on. there is a real beauty with the snow. I am glad everyone is ok. MB
