Iowa in the winter is ... flat. Looks sort of like the Arctic, doesn't it? Lately it has felt like the Arctic.
The other day I thought I saw the sun in a different part of the sky. Something didn't look right so I stepped out to see what was going on.
What I was seeing was a sun dog. We see these when the weather gets very cold and the sun is out. You can see the sun to the right and the sun dog to the left.
Here's another dog -- Bailey. I think he's ready to go in. Not a bad idea.
Thanks for stopping by. If live in a warm place, enjoy it! Otherwise, get inside and stay warm!

I find sun dogs to be fascinating. I only noticed one for the first time a couple of winters back and have seen a few since. Of course Bailey is the best looking sun dog I've seen so far.
Bailey has the cutest face of any dog I have ever seen -- ever. :-)
We get sun dogs here too, but they are usually in the summer, when a Pacific storm is about to roll in.
Those are amazing photographs...!
I bet Bailey wishes he were a real sun dog instead of a snow dog.

Beautiful photos - we get sun dogs here but most usually in warmer weather. Now, please go let Bailey in...
Is that a bunny on the right?
:)
Thanks for the good wish.
Such a magical golden land you show us today!
Please stop by today to share a special moment with me if you have the time. Warmly, c-

I remember Sun Dogs on cold days - grew up in Southern Minnesota. Beautiful photos and congrats on the POTW.
It does look like the Artic. I would have to wear my sunglasses out on a day like that. Thanks for sharing.
I really like all your sun dogs images. The bottom dog is a nice animal.
