It is early April in Iowa. Spring has arrived. The grass is beginning to turn green.
Bailey can smell spring in the air and in the grass.
The fields are beginning to wake up. You can see tractor tracks from yesterday.
Yesterday I burned the ditches where my wild flowers grow.
These lilac bushes are beginning to bud out. But you have to look close.
And the sun is setting north of the road. On the first day of spring the sun is directly over this road - or so it seems. It will keep moving north until the middle of June.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This vast, flat land is beautiful to me. It is waking up and shortly the black fields will be an ocean of growing crops and swaying grass.
Thanks for stopping by.

It is beautiful!!! My Brother in Law who farmed the Prairies in Canada loved them.
The farmers in the Valley are out with their tractors plowing and disking and all that---Seeding next. What a great time of year.
Barn Tuesday tomorrow. MB
Lovely! Bailey would still be ankle deep in snow here - my back yard may never be green again!
Hi Russell, Go to this website to see Washington flatland. We are very diverse out this way.

It's wonderful to see the earth waking up, isn't it? My goodness, it's so flat there, it almost looks like the ocean.
And I always enjoy seeing pictures of Mr. Bailey, the world's best dawg. :-)
Sigh.. you're a fair bit ahead of us. Looks lovely. Gotta love that Bailey. :)
Yes, spring has arrived in Iowa! We drove across the western part today, on our way home from Arizona. We saw a few snow piles along the shelter belts, but otherwise it was bare ground. And we arrived home to find our four foot deep drift in the front yard totally melted! Yay! Spring in Iowa, and in Minnesota!
here too, buds are popping.
It has arrived in east Texas too...thank goodness. I was really tired of the cold.
I didn't know you needed to burn the area that wild flowers are planted.
I just started a patch last fall.
